Story

Music for altered attention

Stewart Lane is a multi-disciplinary artist working across music, performance and short film. With a background in composing for concerts, theatre, dance and film, his music moves fluidly between contemporary classical, electronica, experimental pop and indie rock.

His work inhabits the space between the sacred and the cinematic. Atmospheric soundscapes, provocative lyrics and surreal storytelling combine to create emotionally resonant work that lingers after the final note.

As a neurodivergent creator, Stewart explores themes of neurodiversity, agency and divergence. His films have screened internationally in cities including London, Paris, New York and Milan, and have collectively won more than thirty awards.

He is the founder of BAL, an alternative cabaret ensemble active from 1989 to 1996 that toured widely and won an Edinburgh Fringe award for its genre-exploding performances.

Current Project

Dialogue With Angels

Currently in production, Dialogue With Angels will be the second release in the Adventures in Consciousness trilogy, continuing an exploration of consciousness, perception and our relationship with the natural world.

Blending songs with atmospheric instrumental passages, the album draws inspiration from spirituality, neuroscience, poetry and ancient wisdom to examine intuition, identity and the ways culture shapes our experience of reality.

Release planned for January 2027.

Curves Of Longing

These seven pieces explore the moments that lead to my 'jumping-off' place - when my mind and body feel transported to other realms. Perhaps watching a sunset, or walking through an enchanted place, each piece traces the build-up to ecstatic release, capturing the floating, evanescent quality of a single moment, or holding silence and shadow like the pause between breaths. In a world of constant change, these fleeting alignments feel infinitely precious - timeless, layered, dissolving into peace and reflection.
